Salmon Oil: The Closest Thing Your Dog Has to an Everyday Multivitamin

Salmon Oil: The Closest Thing Your Dog Has to an Everyday Multivitamin
If you could only ever give your dog one supplement, the answer is almost always salmon oil.
Why Omega-3 Matters
Dogs evolved on diets relatively high in marine omega-3 fatty acids. Modern dry kibble is overwhelmingly skewed toward omega-6 — great for shelf life, less great for skin, joints and the cardiovascular system.
Redressing the balance with a daily pump of salmon oil can:
- Reduce shedding within 4–6 weeks
- Soothe dry, itchy skin
- Visibly improve coat shine and softness
- Support joint comfort (omega-3s are naturally anti-inflammatory)
- Support heart and brain function
What Makes a Good Salmon Oil?
Not all bottles on the shelf are equal. Here is what to look for:
Source
Wild or sustainably-farmed cold-water salmon — Scottish, Norwegian or Alaskan are the gold standards. Avoid generic "fish oils" that don’t specify the species.Extraction
Cold-pressed is best. Heat damages omega-3s and produces off-flavours that dogs reject.EPA + DHA
These are the two omega-3s that matter. A good salmon oil will have at least 1,000mg of combined EPA + DHA per teaspoon.Vitamin E
Omega-3s oxidise quickly. A small added amount of natural Vitamin E protects the oil and protects the dog.How Much, How Often?
A simple rule of thumb: 1 pump (2.5ml) per 10kg of body weight per day. Pour over their food. That is it.
You will see your dog notice the smell. Most dogs love it. Cats too.
Our Skin + Coat Salmon Oil is pure cold-pressed Scottish salmon oil with Vitamin E — nothing else added. One pump-top bottle lasts a medium dog 30 days.
